Arm and hand symptoms can limit everyday tasks such as gripping, gardening, reaching, or using a computer. Pain, tingling, pins and needles, burning, or numbness may come from an isolated pinched nerve, the wrist, elbow, shoulder, or neck. At Performance Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, your history and clinical examination help sort out what is contributing to your symptoms.

Pain on the outside of the elbow is commonly called tennis elbow; pain on the inside is called golfer's elbow. Both are commonly overuse injuries involving muscles and tendons that attach at the elbow, and gripping activities may become painful and limited.

Carpal tunnel symptoms are usually felt as pain, tingling, pins and needles, or numbness in the thumb, pointer finger, and middle finger. They result from pinching of a nerve at the wrist.

Neuropathy can cause pain, tingling, pins and needles, numbness, or burning in the hands. Neck problems can produce similar symptoms, often with neck and arm pain, so identifying the right source matters.
Treatment for elbow overuse injuries may include combined elbow, wrist, and forearm stretching, progressive strengthening, and soft tissue mobilization. Your therapist also looks at strength and flexibility issues that may be contributing from the shoulder, back, or other nearby areas. For nerve-related symptoms, treatment can address weakness, balance or hand use concerns, and the movement factors identified in your examination.
